If you are a designer, a craftsman, an inventor or simply want to sell something online, you should have gone through this difficulty: product photos are not good. Light, shadow and the object do not seem to have the right dimensions without suitable space or equipment. In short, there are several problems that you can find to perform the task that seems easy.
So instead of complicating, I decided to write the post on the promise to make all this really simple: I tested a product of the studio, a portable photography studio, and prepared 7 tips for you (or anyone without much fitness photo) to take amazing photos in online shops, even with the phone.
And you can rest assured that the following tips are based on my professional experience as a photographer and an honest opinion about the product:)
The assembly of the studio is very simple. Just open the flaps and position them if you were riding. Each tab has a magnet, which ensures the perfect fit even if you do not have many skills with your hands (like me).
After that, simply fit an infinite background tabs that exist within the studio. The kit comes with three options – white, black and green. But you also can adapt and use other colors (and even colorful patterns).
You can use it to shoot small and medium-sized objects. In our case, we use a potted plant, a mug, a wallet and a leather box of designer Rahyja Afrange.
Lighting is the most important part at the time of shooting any product. Thinking about it, the studio comes with built-in LED lighting in the ideal position to illuminate evenly positioned the object. Depending on where you mount, an extension will be necessary, since the wire of LED is short and can not reach the outlet.
Most of the time, the lighting coupled with natural daylight is enough to create the perfect light. Avoid using the camera flash, as it can change the color of the product and give a sense of very artificial quality and amateur to photos.
Place your camera on a tripod and set the timer function to reach the aim that pictures are not blurred or messed.
If you have some knowledge of photography or a semi-professional camera, set the shutter speed to 1/100 or higher, and the aperture from 7.1. These settings prevent the camera to capture excess light and the picture overexposed or less clear.
If you know nothing of photography or do not have a professional camera … All is not lost! We took some pictures with a smartphone without using a flash.
Obviously, the appearance of the pictures is lower than those taken with the camera. But with some post-production adjustments (we teach below), the result is great and you can put your products on sale without fear 🙂
4 Infinite background
The white infinite background is the most suitable for shooting most of the objects to be neutral and let all get the highlight because of the colors and forms of the product. However, in some cases the black or colored background just offer a better result. Note the difference in the texture and appearance of white mug when photographed.
5 Various Photos
Do not skimp on the photos of your products. Shoot them from the front, side, inside, to show the details … It is important for consumers to see exactly how it is to be able to make a safe decision of purchase. what’s more, you can prevent future problems for you regarding features not specified in your notice of sale.
The studio pictures are important, but the photos acclimated well. One does not replace the other. So after photo shoot with your studio, look for a clean and beautiful place (may be an internal or external location) and shoot your subject interacting with the environment.
In addition to creating a greater connection to future buyers, photos acclimated give a more real sense of the size of the product and even what elements of home or personal items of future customers it can combine.
If you look with a little attention, you’ll notice a big difference between the brightness and colors of the pictures on your camera, on your computer and then put them on the Internet. To minimize these differences and ensure the fidelity of the product characteristics, you can treat the images in any editing program.
But be careful not to overdo it: just make sharpness settings, brightness, remove any reflection marks and use effects that do not modify the appearance of what will be put on sale. After all, we do not hope anyone to buy something by mistake or getting upset.
And then, what do you think of the tips and the studio? Do you know more? Tell to us in the comments.
